Mark Mandela Day by supporting one of The Hope Exchange's most essential services for the homeless
This Mandela Day (or month) The Hope Exchange would like to raise awareness and donations towards running our ablution facilities.
Every weekday morning, we open these facilities for people living on the street. They can wash themselves and their clothing. We provide them with essential toiletries.
Our Social Care Team actively engage with the clients in the mornings to encourage them to make use of our organisation’s many other services. Therefore the ablutions are a significant entry point to take further steps in seeking opportunities for change.
While we are grateful for toiletry donations from generous companies like hotels, the demand often exceeds the supply, especially with a growing number of individuals relying on our facilities. Currently, we support an average of 86 individuals daily.
How can you help?
Set up a R67 monthly donation and help us get 100 people doing so. You will contribute to maintaining our ablution facilities and providing essential toiletries to those in need throughout the year. Spread the word for us and make a difference. (Once-of donations are also aways welcomed.) Payment options to be found below.
Collect and donate toiletries. Organise a toiletry collection drive with your friends, family, or colleagues this Mandela Day. The items we need the most include body wash, body lotion, shampoo, soap and roll-ons.
Collections can be dropped-off on Mandela Day or any weekday that suits you. We are happy to give you a tour of our premises.

Meet The Hope Exchange’s own Madiba
We have an amazing new hire to oversee the ablution operations. He makes sure everyone gets their washing time spot and that the facilities are shining clean again after each morning.
And yes, one of his birth names is indeed Madiba.
